Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's debut female singer on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. Her first single was released with the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she began gaining recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012, with the debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued uploading her songs online, as well as her own single Bound. The 21st day of July, 2015, Omen featured her on Elephant Eyes song"Sweat it Out.. Later that year her music began to circulate around the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some potential references to Rihanna. The official signing ceremony was held with Dreamville Records on 8 December. On the release album Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the track Backseat alongside Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, the artist released her debut album titled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer on behalf of J. Cole on his track Change in 2017. She also appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018 she went on to guest feature on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. On November 9 she released two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Two additional singles were also released on the 11th of November with the titles Pedigree and One. The singer appeared alongside Cole in The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16, and then she released the song as a solo single to the album she released her debut. It was released with a music video in February 20th, 2019 and surpassed 3 million views via YouTube within one week. She supported the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December 2018.
