Finch started playing softball as early as age 5. She was the daughter of Doug Finch, her father. Doug was her first pitching coach. He created the Finch Windmill, a conditioning device that Jennie started using when she was 10 years old. When she was in high school Jennie threw a six-hit game, and had 13 no-hitters. Then she went to University of Arizona. University of Arizona where she was a three-time All-American pitcher and a first baseman. In addition, she won the Honda Award as the nation's best softball player in 2001 after the Wildcats were awarded the national championship and in 2002 she was named the best player in the nation. Wounded Warrior amputee softball (WWAST), a team made up of amputees, has a goal to promote awareness and raise funds via showcase games, famous softball teams and other events that highlight the courage and sacrifices of our soldiers and their families and the way they are able to overcome any challenge. Their goal is to show other amputees how these athletes, by undergoing intense rehabilitation and training, are able to perform and play the sport they are passionate about. Paul Pierce joined with Jennie to take on the epidemic of childhood weight gain in America. Their goal is to create change in thinking in attitude as well as in the way we live. In an era when funding is being reduced for physical education and the lunches served at school are more unhealthy than ever before, nPLAY provides exciting and enjoyable programs for schools, which encourage students to exercise and eat healthy. The program proposes the 80/20 divide. Healthy eating and living 80% all the time, and having the liberty to indulge in more unhealthy behaviors 20 percent of the all the time.
